Cyberpunk 2077 delay adds another layer of emotions to 2020.
CD Projekt Red posted on twitter today that they are delaying the release of Cyberpunk 2077 to December 10, 2020. While this is disheartening news, the thought of having a game that runs smoothly at launch is beyond exciting. While the game has “gone gold,” the developers bring up an excellent point that this does not mean that everything is up to CD Projekt Red’s standards. Knowing that CD Projekt Red is striving for greatness with their upcoming release is promising to the players. With a smooth launch, Cyberpunk 2077 is sitting in the hot seat to win a game of the year award.
Further, taking a few extra weeks to have a release on all platforms is a positive for early adopters of next gen consoles, as this will be one of the biggest games to play in the release window. Originally, CD Projekt Red did not have a set date for next gen console release, but, as stated in their twitter post, the transition to work from home created a shift in plans and allowed for a release on current and next gen consoles. Taking the little bit of extra time to make sure everything is running smoothly on all consoles is sure to please everyone when the game is finally released.
